Fire Stations

 Arcata Fire operates from three fire stations.  The Arcata Station is located in downtown Arcata at 631 9th street, just off the plaza.  This station contains the Fire District offices of the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Battalion Chiefs and Administrative Assistant.  The station also includes offices of the Volunteer Firefighters Association and volunteer sleeping quarters.  The station houses two Type 1 Fire Engines plus an antique Fire Engine and the Humboldt County Fire/Arson Investigation Unit van.  The Arcata Station has a kitchen and meeting room commonly used for trainings and gatherings. 

The Mad River Station is located at 3235 Janes Road, one block north of Mad River Hospital in the Valley West/Giuntoli area.  The station houses a Type 1 and Type 3 Fire Engine, a Water Tender, and a Ladder Truck and is permanently staffed with a minimum of two firefighters, 24 hours a day. The station is able to house up to five firefighters.  Numerous training props exist to the rear of the station for forcible entry, roof ventilation, and a Rapid Intervention Crew tactics maze.

The McKinleyville Fire Station is located at 2149 Central Avenue across the street from the McKinleyville Shopping Center.  The station houses two Type 1 Fire Engines and a Rescue Truck.  This station is also permanently staffed with a minimum of two firefighters, 24 hours a day. If needed it can house up to four firefighters.
