About Arcata Fire
The Arcata Fire Protection District (AFPD) serves a dynamic community that covers an area of approximately 63 square miles with a population of 36,000 residents. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating for the Fire District is a class 4 for areas with hydrants and class 8 for areas without hydrants. This is an excellent rating for a Combination Department and helps keep insurance costs at a respectable rate.
